 Ezra's Story

My partner and I were overjoyed to welcome our baby boy, Ezra Martin Delgado. At 24 weeks, on September 20, 2025, at 11:44 PM, Ezra was born sleeping. Though our time with him was brief, he changed our lives forever.

His closet was filled with whales and ocean themed clothing, and now I see reminders of him everywhere whales, beach treasures, and even yellow or white butterflies and ladybugs that seem to appear when I need them most. In the days after leaving the hospital, I felt the sudden absence of the weight of my beautiful son in my arms. The silence and emptiness were overwhelming. I searched for anything that could bring comfort through the grief and empty arm syndrome so many loss parents experience. A weighted whale plush ended up helping me more than I ever expected. Since leaving the hospital, I have slept every night holding Ezra’s hospital blanket and that whale, wishing it were him instead. Life without Ezra has been such a dark chapter to navigate and our heart still aches for him everyday, but through this tragic loss, something beautiful also came from it which is meeting and helping other loss mommas and families. From that experience, Ezra’s Embrace was created! a mission-based project. Our hope is to reach as many families as we can and one day grow it into a non-profit organization. As we work toward obtaining 501(c)(3) status and completing the necessary steps, Ezra’s Embrace will operate as a mission-based initiative for some time.

Through my Etsy shop, every baby item purchased helps me create and donate a multi-purpose Ezra’s Embrace blanket to hospitals for families experiencing stillbirth. These blankets are designed with a pocket for an ice pack so parents may have a little more time holding their baby. They also include a removable weighted insert, allowing grieving mothers to keep the blanket afterward for comfort.

Ezra’s Embrace is also a mission-based project dedicated to creating custom memorial boxes for loss moms. Donations, along with purchases made on this website, go directly toward creating and gifting these boxes to families navigating unimaginable loss. What started as grief has slowly become a way to honor Ezra while supporting other parents walking the same painful path.

Ezra, you were loved, wanted, and cherished from the very beginning. Though we never heard your cry or watched you grow, you will always be our son.

Thank you for being here and helping us keep Ezra’s love and memory alive.

Ezra is our beloved son, forever loved and forever part of our story. He was God’s little helper, and through him we have found the calling and purpose to support other families who carry their babies in their hearts. In the Bible, Ezra was known for having a faithful and devoted heart. In honoring our Ezra, we hold onto the hope that God sees our love for him and carries us through the hardest moments.

“For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach His statutes and rules in Israel.”  Book of Ezra 7:10

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18
